Our net zero commitment
Tech Geek UK Ltd (company number 09834597), trading as Journey, commits to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2030, in line with the education sector's 2030 ambition.
We do not yet publish emissions figures. Our first carbon footprint and a Carbon Reduction Plan in the PPN 006 format are being prepared, and will set interim milestones to 2030.
Measures in place
- Virtual by default: implementation meetings, training and support are delivered online unless a site visit is needed.
- Paperless operation: contracts, guides, training materials and reports are digital.
- Cloud efficiency: our platforms run on shared multi-tenant cloud infrastructure, so customers need no on-premises servers.
- Low-impact premises: a shared serviced office rather than dedicated premises.
Our commitments
- Travel: video calls first; rail for UK journeys; no domestic flights; site visits combined into single trips.
- Cloud: computing capacity sized to demand and reviewed quarterly; hosting providers reviewed annually against their renewable energy and carbon commitments.
- Suppliers: from 2027 we ask our main suppliers each year for their emissions data and net zero targets, and prefer suppliers with published targets.
- Office energy: renewable tariff for any supply we contract directly; energy data requested from our landlord.
- Equipment: laptops kept in use for at least four years, refurbished where practical, and recycled through a WEEE-compliant service.
- Homeworking: energy-efficiency guidance for staff, with homeworking emissions measured each year.
Measuring and reporting
Each year we measure Scope 1, Scope 2 and the Scope 3 categories PPN 006 requires, using the UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors and the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, from recorded travel, commuting and energy data. We report progress to our customers annually.
